Flora Caverly Goodwin (1867 - 1908)

Flora Caverly was born in Barrington, Strafford County, New Hampshire on 2 February 1867, daughter of John Stickney and Nancy Jane (Ricker) Caverly. She married William Henry Goodwin, son of Alvin H. and Ann (Roberts) Goodwin, in 1891 in Dover. She died from complications of pregnancy in Brockton, Plymouth County, Massachusetts 9 September 1908 and was buried in Melrose Cemetery in Brockton.1
Below is Flora's death notice from The Brockton Daily Evening Enterprise. She is referred to in error as an "aged woman":
Death of Aged Woman - Flora R., wife of William H. Goodwin, a long-time resident of this city, died suddenly last evening at her home, 119 Division street, aged 88 years. Besides her husband she leaves one sister, Mrs. M.J. Piper of Riverside, California, and a brother, Joseph Caverly of Newton.
Mrs. Goodwin was born in Barrington, N.H. She was assistant superintendent of the Sunday school of the Advent Christian church and had been one of its most earnest workers. The funeral will be held from the residence Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock.2

The funeral of Mrs. Flora Goodwin, wife of William H. Goodwin, took place at 2 this afternoon from the home, 119 Division Street. There was a large attendance of friends and relatives, and a large delegation from the Advent Christian church, with which the deceased was prominently identified. The service was conducted by Reverend C.H. Shurtleff of the Advent church and several vocal selections were rendered. The casket was surrounded with a large number of floral emblems. The bearers were William A. Boyden, George Alden, William Cottle, and Lee E. Elliot, all from the Advent church. Burial was in Melrose cemetery.3
