Moses Caverly (1693 - 1765)
Moses Caverly was born in England circa 1693, son of William and Mary (Abbott) Caverly. He married Margaret Cotton, daughter of John and Sarah (Hearle) Cotton, in Portsmouth, Rockingham, New Hampshire on 30 January 1714. He died in Barrington, Strafford County, New Hampshire circa 1758 and was buried in the Moses Caverly Family Cemetery in Barrington.1
Moses and Margaret had five children: William, Moses Jr., John, Thomas, and Hannah.
Moses was of the original proprietors of Barrington on May 10, 1722, and the lot which he drew, as appears from the records, was no. 164, containing 150 acres, and the first assessment on it was 1 pound 5 shillings. He resided in Portsmouth until 1746, when, with his family, he moved to Barrington, and made improvements on his farm. He and his wife, Margaret, died there, but the records of their decease have not been found.2
